igotitforfree:So Who is Rock City?
Theron:Two young brothers from the Virgin Island.I cant just call us a hip-hop group.First I would say we were a hiphop group but now I have to say we are world wide musicians
igotitforfree:So you have written for other artist?
Theron: Yes
igotitforfree:Name a few?
Theron: Lets see...Mario,Usher,Rich Boy,Akon,Beanie Segal,Nicole.
igotitforfree:oh..yeah who was your favorite?
Theron:man I have to say vocally Usher..I mean he's incredible..I dont think nobody can touch his singing.
igotitforfree:when did you start writing?
Theron:11 and 12.Gibson use to write for us but our dad didnt like that so we started writing for ourselves
igotitforfree:I know you guys represent.How was it growing up in V.I.?
Theron:We grew up poor,I mean we had a good childhood.We grew up with both parents which most kids dont and we grew up in musical house.We have never been in trouble with the law.
igotitforfree:How is the hiphop scene in V.I.?Theron:There wasn't a hiphop scene before us.
igotitforfree:
How do you think the industry perceives you now?
Theron:Honestly I think they respect us. They think we're different and that was our main goal.They respect our grind and our hustle.We are Just starting to find out how many fans we have in the carribean and we are getting new fans everyday.
igotitforfree:Lets talk about the mixtape for a mintue?
Theron:Okay.Its called "The Black Beatles".We called it that because our story is very similar to the Beatles.First records labels didnt get the Beatles then people caught on and said "they were the truth".Thats what happened to us.
igotitforfree:The leading underground song on the mixtape is "Stop Lying".Is it a campaign?Yes.Actually we were getting offended with music.We aint never sold drugs..A lot of rappers out here saying the same shit and everybody aint doing the same shit.

igotitforfree:what about she's gone?
Theron: it talks aboout hiphop and hows shes so lost
igotitforfree: and "Losing It" thats your leading single right?.
Theron:Yes.We wrote it for Trey songz and Trey didnt really like it.We was like we don't do those types of songs..then one day we was playing it and Erica Grayson (Geffen A&R) walked in the room and said we can't give it away, its a hit.So we did it and it came out hot

As a member of Illidelph’s high-profiled rap outfit State Property Omillio Sparks enjoyed an association that most up-and-coming rappers would kill for. During his seven-year stint with the Roc Sparks patiently waited with his partner Oschino on their opportunity to shine away from their SP collective. And even though Sparks shined on SP’s various album and movie projects and on Hov’s albums, even garnering a co-writing credit for Jay-Z’s hit single “I Just Wanna Love (Give It to Me)”, Sparks never got his chance. After the “Dynasty” split and the bosses Jay-Z and Dame Dash and his boy Biggs went their separate ways most of the Roc-A-Fella artist were suddenly without a home and were forced to fend for themselves. The breakup hurt him for a little bit but if Sparks took nothing else from his time on the Roc he learned that hustlers win and so he created his own team. And so he finally has his coveted chance. Sparks developed Colossal Entertainment and released his first solo album entitled The Payback. Maybe the breakup was just the thing he needed.

S: Okay. So, how is life After Roc-a-fella?
O: Spectacular! I got my own company. It was actually a good thing. I still got love for everybody over there.
S: How has the breakup affected you?
O: The breakup made me mad strong. It hurt. It was like a bad break up with your girlfriend that you been with since 1999, I can’t front it took me like two years, but I have grown up. I’m getting my money right now.
S: Was the breakup real quick?
O: I mean when the split came it was like, Dame was taking people and Jay was taking people. I couldn’t understand at the time why jay wouldn’t take me. That was supposed to be family.
S: Right. Where you eating at the Roc?
O: It was hard. You had so many people. I wasn’t tearing it up like I was supposed to be.
S: So what’s of you and Jay?
